Hospital patient safety and quality initiatives
Medicare projects
As Oregon's Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO), Acumentra Health has a long history of assisting Oregon hospitals and professional associations in improving patient care and safety.
In August 2008, Acumentra Health will begin a new round of QIO work, partnering with Oregon hospitals and nursing homes on several focused initiatives to improve patient safety:
- Medical & Surgical Care Initiative
- Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) prevention
- Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) to prevent post-surgical infections
- Improvement in heart failure treatment
- Pressure ulcer prevention in transitional care (community collaborations between nursing homes and nearby hospitals)
5 Million Lives campaign
Acumentra Health is one of 6 organizations in the Oregon IHI Network, providing support for the 5 Million Lives hospital patient safety campaign led by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
