Background
PQRI establishes a financial incentive for eligible professionals to participate in a voluntary quality reporting program. Under the 2007 PQRI program, eligible professionals who successfully reported a designated set of quality measures on claims for dates of service from July 1 to December 31, 2007, could earn a bonus payment, subject to a cap, of 1.5% of total allowed charges for covered Medicare physician fee schedule services.
Reporting periods
The 2007 PQRI reporting period ends December 31, 2007.
The 2008 PQRI reporting period is January 1 through December 31, 2008. There is no need to enroll to participate. Eligible professionals can participate by reporting the appropriate quality measure data on claims submitted to their Medicare claims processing contractor.
